The Dental Industry Awards (DIA) —a local event for dentists and dental businesses in the UK—provided a new Sustainable Business Award for companies with specific practices and production approaches that reduce facilities' environmental impact.
A Few Words about Sustainability
Climate change is an important and inevitable question that requires our attention right now. As with any other technological field, dentistry and related industries produce some waste in the form of carbon print, single-use materials, toxic substances, etc.
Pollution reduction is a popular topic for some modern scientific facilities, such as the Royal College of General Practitioners, which is researching how dental services and productions can ecologically transform its business and providing transformational initiatives, like the Green Impact Toolkit.
DIA contribution
The Sustainable Business Award is an excellent method to attract companies' attention to care for the environment. As the award's website informs, judges are especially interested in three categories:
- Reduction of single-use materials
- Carbon emissions and energy use
- Encouragement of biodiversity.
Also, the approaches you offer should be implemented and effective in your business facilities. If you own such an ecological business - you can submit your entry by 18 September on the DIA website, sending them a 500-word message describing your initiative.
