However, a few related fields are left to discuss, for instance, educational AI for professionals. Recently, a team of dentists from Harvard School of Dental Medicine received a $100,000 award to develop AI-based software for medical training.
How would it work?
Scientists are working on a system that can simulate realistic clinical cases for dental students. Thus, they can develop their diagnostic, decision-making, and therapeutic skills. After the intern receives and completes the therapeutic task, the program will share immediate and tailored feedback about every participant's action.
Clinical cases produced by the program are based on the large database from the Harvard Dental Center, which includes real clinical records, radiographs, photos, and other medical information.
Such large masses of diverse data make it possible to simulate hundreds of realistic clinical cases, allowing students to try different approaches before they start the practice with real humans. Moreover, the project's scientists claim that this system will be able to interact with other AI-based instruments from diagnostics, supporting therapy, and other fields.
